So have you made any decisions on what your buying for next season. If yes, what made you decide to spend your hard earned money on them?
Last year was pretty much a break out season for me, my seventh since I started skiing at 45. I pretty much rotated out my entire quiver last season, selling my much loved Movement 187 Thunders, as the mileage was high on them and I had moved on to using my 184 Mythic Riders as a daily driver. I sold my Nordica Nitrous and upgraded to Sultan 85"s. I traded my 195 Praxis Powders for a pair of 196 PM Gear Lhasa Pows and finally, I sold both my 183 Bros and my 190 Praxis Back Countries, as at times both set up's felt like one ski would take off resulting in near crashes. So with the MR's getting a little long in the tooth, I have been searching for that elusive ski in the 98-105 waist range to replace that spot in my quiver vacated by the sale of the Bros and the BC's.
Alexzn"s review of the 2012 Bonafide pretty much sold me on a pair of those for next season, But I have been struggling with what length, as I really wanted a 184ish ski. Then I stumbled across a great review of the 2012 Armada TST. Like the Bonafide, sounds like one of the best skis the manufacturer will put out for 2012 in the All Mtn category. Sounds a little more turny than the Bonafide with a 17M radius in the 183 and is 102 in the waist. I have the MR's for the days I want to do hi speed big GS turns, but the 17M radius is about the same as my Sultans and I have found I really like that radius for skiing steep terrain and moguls.
So there you have it. For next season:
184 MR 122/88/110Early season ski
178 Sultan 85 126/85/118 Firm days
183 Armada TST 119/132/102/123 A little fresh snow
196 Lhasa Pow 140-112-120 A lot of fresh snow
Now let the next 5 months go by quickly please.
