Rock star performance at a bear jam.  Only in the Tetons.   roflmao.gif

AP Article in my local paper.   Very cool.

Teton Female Grizzlies number 399 and 610 and their cubs are a big hit, resulting in a bear jam.

It's been a great year for bear sitings in Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks.  I've had a bunch of fun tours this season with some great guests.

They will sit on you if you get too close and look soft.  I feel a little like Bushwhacker with my careless typingredface.gif, I guess the difference between us would be that I know better and would like to appear to maintain some sort of standard congruent with my level of educationwink.gif

I have seen a lot of bear, moose, elk, antelope, eagles, osprey, and otters so far this season.  Many with young.  Only one wolf so far and at a great distance.  Some friends and me hiked into Flagg Canyon to fish on Easter sunday and saw many fresh wolf tracks and some bobcat and otter tracks, but no live sitings...  Or sightings... that day.  The otter tracks were really cool because it was obvious that they had been having a great time hiking for their turns and sliding around on the snow.  The snow pack at the South Entrance was easily 6' on Easter Sunday.  There are still some patches there and about 3' remaining on Craig Pass, but most of the park is finally clear and it feels like summer up there this week.

My wife and I were participants in the "Grizzly Flash Mob" on Monday.  While mamma grizzly was scratching her back on a power pole, Huey, Dewey, and Louie were playing tag.  My camera lens wasn't up to the photo-task, as we were about 200 yards away.  Neither mother bear nor I were inclined to lessen the distance.

In addition, we saw a cow moose with a very young calf, four coyotes chilling below the dam, too-many-to-count bison, pronghorn, and elk, plus assorted osprey, herons, and pelicans, all in one outing.  And although Bob Peters would have us believe that one only hikes in the Tetons/Gros Ventres to ski, it is possible to just hike.
