I've convinced my brother to take advantage of off-season deals and get some new skis for my niece. She is upholding the tall/skinny tradition in our family and is 5'11" but only 130 lbs -- she is 14 years old. She is on "junior" skis right now, but I don't know the length (I think they are old Line Celebrity junior version). She currently skids her turns but has athletic talent and is likely to improve quickly with more time on the snow. I would say she is probably a level-5 or maybe level-6 skier. She also stays on groomers at this point but will likely start to venture off trail as she improves. She needs something she can grow into skill wise but that is not too demanding for her current level that she couldn't have fun.
There is a great deal on the Nordica Infinite at a local ski shop. They have it in 154cm or 162cm. Firstly, would this be an appropriate ski for my niece or is it too advanced for her? Secondly, would the 162 length be right for her?
Also, I have found the Nordica Drive and Mint for an incredible price -- would either of these be better for her if the Infinite is too advanced? Thanks for the advice.
