Autoplaying video ads with sound?

I've never gotten one on this site before today.  Was this a mistake, or is this a new thing you're considering?  Please say it was a mistake; those are just about the most annoying ads out there, and they would drive me to use Ad Block on this site if they were displayed regularly.

Got another one today, hadn't gotten one since the first time I posted this thread.  Since there was no response to this thread the first time, let me ask again:

Is this going to be a part of the normal ads on epicski that I can expect to see from time to time, or was this a mistake?

I don't know, but when I see them I do my best to track them down and kill them. I haven't had one in a long time. What was it an ad for?

Bing

I checked into this thread to say that I'd gotten a noise ad, and I got another one with this thread.

I agree that these ads are the most obnoxious things on the Internet. I hope we can get them gone in a big hurry.

Kill this scourge!

Best regards,

Bob

When I clicked on the ad (hated to do it), I got this page for Mario Batali olive oil

Best regards,

Bob

Edit--and I'm now getting the same annoying ad with just about every new EpicSki page I click on.

Could someone please take a screen shot so I can communicate the problem?

Here you go, Nolo--it is the "bing Decisions with Mario Batali" ad on the right side:

Thanks for looking into this.

Wow--it gets worse! When I refreshed this page, the ad came up TWICE--two separate instances, not in sync. To get rid of the sound (without shutting off my speakers) I had to go to each separate ad and either hit "pause" or turn the sound off. And the sound is shockingly loud and obnoxious. Here's the screen shot:

It's a real problem!

Will report this to Huddler to get the ad pulled.

Thanks, Cirque!

If this should happen in the future: we need to let the ad agency know which is the offensive ad so they can pull it, so snapping a screen shot and sending it to me or Cirquerider is the fast track to removal.

In regards to "active"  ads appearing on chat sites may I add my comments.

First as indicated from the above messages the "administrators" should and must administer the site as they do on this site! That is why I visit this site since it so well "administered" !

More and more sites are becoming "commercial" with active ads of all types! I refuse to visit such sites!

I understand that sites must make money to stay alive, however on chat sections,,,,,the goal is chats. The sharing of information etc,,,

Now for my experience in regards to pop ups! I have a pop up control which is supposed to stop all pop ups!

On this site when I want to answer ( as I am doing now),,,,often a GM truck ad comes up blocking all controls on the right hand side of the window! I have written to GM, their ad agency and to the CEO of GM! It has had an impact!

The site administrators must be vigilant for coming cyber space active ads which surreptitiously do "marketing"! You will some soon in the coming months.

Respectfully,

Tor

Of course, there's an easy fix if ads are a bother: become a Supporter. One of the benefits is the ability to turn off the ads.
