The first five minutes and the last five minutes of my commute this morning. Maryland to DC. Music by Keller Williams.

Did you get a new video camera?

BTW, I'm still in awe of that biking/driving/skiing triathlon you did in March.  15 mile uphill bike ride, 3:15 hr car drive to WV, 8hrs of telemark skiing, 3:15 hr return drive, 15 mile bike ride home in total darkness.  I've been doing the bike commute sporadically from FC to Navy Yard, and the ride up from Rosslyn is still killing me!

Your office is a block from my DC ofice. How surprising!

That was a fun day! Thanks for driving me out there and arranging for the drive back. The driving was the hard part, I was happy to be spared that. The morning bike ride was in total darkness too, for the record, haha. I know you would have picked me up and taken me home if I had asked, but the biking made the day more of an adventure and spared you the hassle and time involved in shuttling back and forth through the city. The ride home was a blast with the endorphins still coursing through my veins from the best day of skiing I had last season. :) Thanks again Jim for including me in your plans.

The video was made with an older iPod Nano strapped to my helmet. (The new Nano doesn't have a camera). Surprisingly good quality from such a tiny lens.

I was lucky! Although I heard about the fly-over on the radio, I figured I was too late to see it and was very surprised to spot from NE 10ish. It looked big and directly in front of me, but by the time I unholstered my camera and began shooting, it was going into the trees. Shot on the fly, while passing that bus.

Nice day, not much traffic until you got into DC. I see the cabbies have little love for bikes but that's the rule everywhere.   I was born in Bethesda but haven't lived there since I was young. I would love to see more of these.

Thanks for sharing

No traffic because I was taking a back alley. My neighborhood is not as rural, small road as it looks in the video. I don't encounter many cars on the neighborhood roads either though, yes, it's pretty chill in the 'hood.

I lost that camera. Damn! Still kicking myself for that. Damn! An iPod Nano of the generation that had a camera, video only, no stills. Velcroed to helmet vents. I think it cost me $150. Very cheap! for TINY unit that took OK! video, plus played iTunes, etc. It also had a radio that you could rewind! No kidding! If you missed the weather report for example. Truly awesome technology. Why can't they make it anymore? mad.gif

This takes me back. Years ago I was stationed at Andrews AFB without a car and often rode my bike into DC and beyond to Georgetown and sometimes out to Great Falls. I used to ride right by St Elizabeths, the mental hospital where Ezra Pound was confined in the years after WWII.
