Every year on EpicSki we get a couple of threads that start something like this:
I'm tired of my job and I'd like to move out west and be a ski bum for a season. I watched Aspen Extreme, and I think it'd be awesome to be a ski instructor. However, I have a tech background and I'm pretty good with computers, so what's the chance I can get a job at a ski resort?
Well, here's your chance.
There's likely going to be a position posted in the next few months for something like that at Moonlight Basin. When it goes up on our website, I'll PM anyone who responds to this thread who's interested. From there you can fill in the online application. A lot of times these kinds of jobs get posted on websites but are only listed for a few days before they stop taking applications. This will be for a tech position, specifically what depends a lot on qualifications. Currently we run a mostly Microsoft shop (mostly Server 2008 and Win 7) with a large Cisco WAN infrastructure. Our bigger apps sit on top of MS SQL and range from off the shelf stuff for typical business processes like accounting to some custom .NET stuff for integrating different apps or reporting.
If you're sitting in a cubicle right now staring at three LCD's, have a .NET reference book laying next to you, and absolutely hating life, this is your way out. You're not going to become a millionaire, but it will pay all of your bills for a ski season. You also get to have bragging rights for having a job cooler than all your friends.
