Optimal ski size 100-108 underfoot

Hey guys,

Hard to tell what size I should go with fat ski's.  I am 5'8 145lbs and would consider myself an expert but not a superexpert.  I was leaning towards a pair of scott p4's but i seem to be in between their sizing of 171-181.  Which should I size with.  I usually ski alta.

thanks yall happy summer

Find a ski that has pleasing graphics,  They are all Good!

You could likely ski either at your size, but 171cm and a twintip is going to ski pretty short, while 181cm may be a bit long.

Have you considered other skis than the P4?  It's a pretty burly ski with two layers of metal and may be a handful at your size.  It seems better suited to bigger guys, at least in the 181 or 191 lengths.

strongly disagree.... this guy says he is a expert.

at 165lb I can easily handle the 191, alot of small girls ski the 181....

+1  ... 181 shouldn't be too long for a 5' 8" expert skier.

I'm 5'9" and 170 and the only thing I ski under 179 is a SL sidecut.  But, I'm old school and was skiing much longer skis most of my life.  At 145 pounds, a 181 might be a little much for tight trees depending on the actual level of OP.  I see the dilemma.  Something more around 174-177 seems to be optimal unless OP is or has been a several times a week kind of skier..

Sniff around on TGR for a while, and buy a used pair in each length.  You could find two pairs for the price of one new one.

Yeah, but Josh you're a "ski god".  Normal 145 lb people do use skis in the 170-180cm range, so I'm not way off here.  I also factored in that most people who call themselves "experts" on the internet are actually not quite as good as they think.

far from ski god, thanks though. So many people who are better than me.

The deal is if you ski a shorter ski you can hold yourself back. So many people will never reach their fullest potential because they never ski a ski big enough. I have seen a ton of short girls use the 181 out west. this is far from a burly ski, its soft and easy to ski.
