Tom it's a shame Bob had to lock this thread, just like the mods feeling the need to lock the one about teaching survival skills. I'm not questioning the decision to do so. FWIW I am against removing anything from the crudology thread, leave it locked as it is an example of out of control.

let it be know I wasnt the one using profanity in that thread either......

There is always a reason for doing something. As to your last comment, who was the one guilty of profanity?

Ok, it's time to let it go.  And if you must persist on this unproductive path - do it in private.  We do not need to be a part of this and we do not need to take sides.

Let if f-in go.

That would have been me. Saying that there was no f****ing right and wrong.

My post wasn't personally attacking anyone, it was even commended by Trekchick -

and yet it was the first one deleted.

Hi Bears:

This is taking on a comical twist, if it weren't for the subject material being so serious and regrettable.  It reminds me of the last scene from "Blazing Saddles" where the fight overflows from the "frontier town" set to the "ziegfield follies" set.  Oh well, boys will be boys duel.gifpopcorn.gif.

Think snow,

"again why would anyone who was capable of proving something right, not prove something right."

Why?

Kindness and respect come to mind.

Closing the thread illustrates that civility, respect for others and tolerance of differing opinions are expected in order to particpate in this forum much as it is in places where it actually matters, such as in real life.

I vote to rename the locked thread..

"Crude-ology"

Then we can rename this one "Crude-ology Part Deux"

opinion - is a subjective belief, and is the result of emotion or interpretation of facts. An opinion may be supported by an argument, although people may draw opposing opinions from the same set of facts. Opinions rarely change without new arguments being presented. However, it can be reasoned that one opinion is better supported by the facts than another by analysing the supporting arguments.[1] In casual use, the term opinion may be the result of a person's perspective, understanding, particular feelings, beliefs, and desires. It may refer to unsubstantiated information, in contrast to knowledge and fact-based beliefs.

The deal was what stated this entire mess, was someone who was posting up his opinion as if was fact. About something that is indeed a fact. If he wants to change the facts of physics and their affect on skiing, he is going to have try much harder than posting an unsubstantiated opinion up on the net.

I can tolerates other opinions as long as they are knowledgeable with enough experience about the given subject.

Someone like S6s and I like katana, thats fine that opinion and it what works best for you.

I like Spaghetti and you like lasagna, cool maybe we will cook for each other.

those are opinions you can argue them to the day is blue, but why would you one is not better than the other.

In the thread locking, we were arguing quantifiable actions being done by a skier in a crud skiing environment.  I said it nicely first and got called out, saying I didnt ski hard enough terrain because I never traverse or shopped for turns. Basically do not argue quantifiable facts and actions with your opinion based on your own short comings, lack of knowledge, and or stubbornness.

I vote we lock this thread, too.  Some people don't know when to shut up.

Thanks, Bob and nolo, and sorry for not reporting, Cirque. Once I got bumped into (I don't even remember by whom) for saying something silly I backed off and became a passive bystander, at which point I waited for someone else to call it in. In the future, I think the measure of when to report will be when it's hard to keep my eyes off the carnage. Then you moderator-types can do whatever seems right, including ignoring my report if I'm over-reacting. So far I haven't seen you do anything unreasonable--at least in my eyes.

Paul, I won't tell whether you t*****se if you don't tell whether I do. rolleyes.gif

Just lock the whole forum.  Then you guys can go somewhere for mudwrestling.

This one has run its course too!!   Time shut it down.  Its time to more on to a totally different topic.

Everyone step away from the keyboard.  Go outside.  Play golf.  Go fishing.  Do anything else.

It's only early June.  There's still 6 months to go for most of us.

<Sarcasm mode on>

Hey!!!. Only jello wrestling is Right and Correct! Newfy doesn't know what he's talking about! Anyone who would mudwrestle must be a complete...<place negative term of choice here>

If you mudwrestle, it just shows you don't have the necessary skill to jello wrestle. Etc. Etc.

Also, I traverse. In the backcountry. So that I can bypass the 40-foot drops and get to the 100-foot drops. I'm too good for anything less.

Faulty logic, misinformed, lying ,teasing another to get a rise out of them. I can think of lots of reasons not to bother.
