Same experience here. It was my first season with an iPhone and I was also surprised how much longer its battery lasted compared to my prior HTC.

Snack size Ziplock.  My phone goes bananas for about two days from the moisture trapped in my jacket if I put it in an inside pocket without a Ziplock. Same thing happens if it's in my back jersey pocket when cycling.

I put everything in my inside pocket.  As long as you keep the battery to your body it will last a little bit longer.  When its cold it just drains the power so with your ipods a little trick i was told that i found works is keep the metal back facing your chest and you will be listening to tunes all day!

Inside pocket with  some really nice plugin ear buds routed up through my jacket and hanging behind my head.  Pretty easy to pop them in and take a call if I need to, and my jacket is a bit oversized so I can bury my face in it when it's all zipped up and have a good conversation.  Lots of cold, lonely lift rides here, so it's a nice distraction.  I also have a small memory card in it with a few playlists for music.

Another tip that Phil originally posted a while ago was, put a chemical hand warmer in your pocket with your phone to keep the battery from going dead.

Squatty told us that his park kids at Buttermilk stick a chemical toe warmer  on the back of the phone.  That, added to the ziplock bag should keep your phone warm and dry.

I have a defender series otterbox on my droid x2. It has a good amount of water protection, and is definitely fall resistant...err proof. However it makes it MASSIVE pretty much double the thickness. I used to ski with my phone in my pant pocket but I fried two batteries doing that, It stays inside the coat now.

My iPhone 4 is in a griffon elan passport case in my backpack. My iPod is in my inside jacket pocket in a plastic hinge case inside a ziplock bag, only the scroll wheel is open. I use a monster iezclick to control my music iPod leading into my vantage helmet. Moisture is very bad, at the very least it can void your warrantee because of the water sensitive label on the inside of most electronics like these.

I appreciate that you actually searched the forum and found an existing thread instead of starting a new one.  I've seen a lot of phones get dropped while people were on lift chairs so this would actually be pretty useful for some people.
