I just read about the SBS.
an I'm wondering if there is any feedback from the EpicSki crowd?
I'm a monkey feet girl. My pronation and alignment problems went away after a few months
of Five Finger use.
Astonishing how they changed my balance, foot and lower leg strength and created an arch
where there once was none. And when you run, the forefoot (or even mid-foot) strike keeps you forward.
While my boots are really intermediate level (okay, they are kinda cushy), that little bit more room
gives my feet and ankles the power to drive the boot for better response. And my feet don't hurt even after a first-to-last chair day.
Your mileage may vary. And they are super cute! (not)
I tried the SBS system a couple years ago while I was attending a ski clinic at Snowmass.
For me, the experience was painful (because I have a 1 finger fit in my boots and didn't have room for the added material in my boots), and the time I tried to ski with them in my boots was awkward.
I've heard testimonials from some folks who swear by SBS. It just didn't work for me.
What did work for me was going to a boot fitter that balance and aligned me by planing and plating my boots on the outside. The first run I took after having that done was like I was finally home in my boots. All the stuff I'd been working on in ski lessons to get rid of my A frame seemed to come together and I wondered why I didn't get my boots planed sooner.
As always JMHO and YMMV.
What is Five Finger? I'm alway looking for advances in alignment. So if I can get information from you and other on footbeds, alignment, and etc. it would be great.
