Let me repeat to any outsider looking in. The fact that TDK6 keeps lobbying for traversing as a valid tactic is a telling tale of what kinda of skier, coach, and internet poster he is. I only post up so outsiders looking in dont listen to him and become worst off because of it.
The fact is that he is not a ski god as you are, or to be less sarcastic, not as amazing a skier as you are.
For mere mortals there is a time and a place for traversing, that's the message I get from his post.
I AM SO SICK AND TIRED OF THIS RIGHT AND WRONG BS!!!!
Yes Josh you are a better skier then TDK is.
And yes, if you have the skill, traverses are not something to strive for.
However there is nothing ******* wrong about NOT HAVING THE SKILL. Sometimes lower level techniques are quite useful. Tell someone without your skill level not to traverse and they will most likely get seriously injured when the going gets tough.
Do you think mdf would have made it down that slope safely if he stayed in the fall line? I don't, and neither would I. We would both crash and burn.
I dont think MDF would have made that slope in the fall line, but I dont think he should work at traversing to get better at it. My point is people should strive to traverse as little as possible to eventually there is nothing that will make them traverse. To have TDK6 sit here and say to traverse is in direct contradiction to what is the highest form of skiing. Remember TDK6 said you "shouldnt" ski with flow down the fall line. I think flowing down the fall line no matter what is the best you can do on ski, TDK6 says its a no no though.
there is nothing wrong with not having the skill, but do start saying that the less than efficient technique of traversing when otherwise you can work towards not doing that is good thing.
