I have been researching this topic for some time now both here on this forum, and throughout the internet. It is time for me to ask the experts.
I recently returned to my birthplace of Colorado from the flatlands of Florida, and I am looking into purchasing my first pair of skis. I have been renting my skis this past season and am tired of wasting money. I am looking for a ski that I can grow with. Let me give you some critical information:
I am 6 ft. and weigh 190. When I first got into skiing I skied on mainly the 165-170 range. Recently, I have been skiing on K2 174's. I am very comfortable at high speeds with all groomed blues. This season I have been focusing on blacks and ungroomed runs and feel that this is where I need to improve on. I would love a ski that can handle all conditions - groomed, ungroomed, powder, etc.
I have demo'd the K2 Aftershocks and K2 Rictors. I liked them both but I feel like the Aftershocks might be the better ski to grow into.(thicker mids?) Though, I am not sure, and this is why I am asking the experts.
Ok, so this is where you, the experts, come in.
What size skis do you recommended for my specs and skill level? And of course, what skis would you recommend for what I described above? From what I've read, the general consensus around here is the K2 are popular skis for the casual/lazy skier and there seems to be better skis out there. I liked the K2's but I'm not sure what to look for :)
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
