My brother-in-law referred me to this article. Unfortunate.
MOUNT RAINIER, Wash. — A man who accidentally skied into a crevasse on Mount Rainier, Washington state's highest peak, has died, National Parks officials said Tuesday.
A small party of skiers were on the Upper Nisqually Glacier around 10 a.m. when the victim skied into the crevasse. The man has not yet been identified.
He died after falling more than 100 feet, park spokeswoman Patti Wold said. He was with a group of three other climbers.
Other people in his group found a group of guides training on the mountain. One of them rappelled into the crevasse and found the man dead.
Wold says a helicopter is taking rangers to the site to recover the body. It's on the upper Nisqually glacier, at about the 13,000-foot level of the 14,410-foot mountain.
