I'm aware a few ski areas that used to offer summer skiing in the French Alps that have closed down in the last twenty years.
I'm wondering how many are still running into Summer or Year-round.
I know that with skins you don't need lifts.
Off the top of my head, I could name Tignes, Val d'Isère, Les Deux Alpes and Alpe d'Huez in France (not sure if they are still all open for summer skiing?).
Switzerland: Zermatt is the first that comes to mind.
Austria: Hinterlux? Solden?
Italians side of the Alps? Scandanavian country?
I heard about Myrdalsjókull in Iceland. Can someone confirm this?
Indoor skiing: is it year-round?
Curious as we're planning a trip to (mostly) France this summer and planning a few turns in August and September. :P
The top two that I'm eyeing right now would be Tignes (been in the Winter) and Zermatt. Any others...regardless how far. Curious to see how many ski areas have skiing in the summer.
I got a few good responses 3 years ago...looking for an update and maybe ultimate summer skiing list.
