New Equipment.... Thoughts?

At our final get together for the season, the team I coach was wondering if we could get backing from another equipment manufacturer. Currently we receive support from volkl and fischer. Volkl has been right there for us every time but things with Fischer seem to be going slowly. My gut is telling me to try to bring in stockli to replace Fischer. I have never skied them or dealt with them but really like the line up. Can anyone give me the good and the bad with stockli? Ski durability? Quality? Construction?

Thanks!

The bad is they don't take an active role in participation over here.  Reps getting skis and such is a chore much less scoring any free or discounted gear for a team.

Would a make the call to Denver?  Yes but I would set up a lot of other alternatives and not put any real hopes on them.

If your racers like Fischer skis then explore Head as an alternative.

Atomic, did I leave out a little detail?

Stockli?  Yeah, you see them on the podiums, mostly the women in WC and they have had a few good years but they never put any energy into the US.  The impression was that they are small with limited production and they are snug and happy that way.

I a lot of places are cutting back sponsorships.  K2/FT are great with their athletes, but unfortunately that doesn't help you too much.  Fischer has always treated us pretty good, but I sell their gear so I guess that's different.

I would just put a bunch of calls into all the different area reps, and hopefully someone calls you back!

I am by no means looking for anything for free. The kids usually have two pairs of gs and two pairs sl skis for the season and then I buy extra pairs to keep on hand. I am not a dealer so I have little pull. Just looking to see if there is someone willing to give us a deal on about 50 pairs of skis. Volkl has been so great and half my kids will stay with them. The others want to try something new... Head nor atomic had no interest. See what i can do with stockli......

NO for some reason I just figured out that when I reply by a quote nothing show up. Really strange!

Normally they will only help athletes thatget thier points low enough or top finishes at JO's ie different levels of help based on maybe top 15.  #1 gets more the #2 and so on.

I din't realize you were after 50 pair.

I can't imagine Stockli is going there, but it does not hurt to ask. Very samll company and expensive limited # of skis.

Try talking with the race services reps. I know here in the east, they do offer special pricing to race team members. They will sometimes want you to go through a local retailer, but it will be at race club pricing, not retail.

At this point it is looking like we will be going with just volkl/marker next year. Calls to stockli go into never never land which is too bad. I did buy two pair of sl lasers so i am curious to see what they are made of. One pair I will ski on and the others are going to be donated to science!
