I'm going to try to flesh out the Wikipedia's woeful collection of articles on major advances in ski gear. So far my collection will consist of articles on...
Spademan bindings (already posted)
Look Nevada bindings (and its many follow-ons)
Head Standard skis (as well as Competition and 360)
bear trap bindings
So now I'm looking for suggestions for more articles. In particular I know I'm missing these...
I think Lange had the first plastic boot, right?
Everyone talks about a famous Rossi ski that really broke out the fibreglass torsion box design in the late 60s
What was the first "monocoque" ski? Was this original one a way to go cheap, or a way to get around Head Radial patents?
Who was the first shaped ski? I see mention of an Elan design.
Basically I'm looking for any bit of tech that you guys think was a "first" of any sort, especially ones that lasted out and changed the industry. There's a lot of marker and salomon history I know I'm missing, for instance.
