The Gathering 2012 Greetings from “Lake Tahoe”
Between now and September we will be adding additional tips and suggestions for lodging and ticket.
2/26 Sunday: Skiers Choice/Arrival Day for some
2/27 Monday: Alpine Meadows
2/28 Tuesday: Mt. Rose
2/29 Wednesday: Northstar at Tahoe
3/1 Thursday: Squaw Valley
3/2 Friday: Heavenly
3/3 Saturday: Kirkwood
*exact days ARE subject to change depending on weather and last possible event/demo schedules.
We will be posting these as they become available and nailed down. Two things for sure there will be a wine/cheese/meet/greet at The Start Haus one night and there will also be a Sushi Night at The Atlantis (in Reno) which has a killer all you can eat sushi bar. I will also be calling in “favors” to my local reps for “special” demo days.
North Lake Tahoe/Kings Beech/Tahoe City/Incline Village: Right on the lake with a great “Tahoe feel” Alpine, Northstar, Squaw and Sugar Bowl being 1/2 hour and Heavenly all being less than an hour away and Kirkwood being about 1.5 hours.
Truckee Region: Pretty centrally located to Alpine, Northstar, Squaw and Sugar Bowl with Heavenly being just over an hour away and Kirkwood being 2 hours. Motels & house rentals are best option.
Reno: Easy access from airport with the most inexpensive lodging options. Access to Alpine, Northstar, Squaw and Sugar Bowl 45-1 hour up rt 80 with Heavenly being an hour away and Kirkwood being 2 hours. Ski & Stay packages being checked on. Most hotels have transportation to MOST resorts (Sugar Bowl & Kirkwood might be the exception), you could get away without having a rental car.
SLT (South Lake Tahoe): Very Picturesque. Alpine, Northstar, Squaw and Sugar Bowl being just over an hour away and Kirkwood being 1/2 hour. Casino Ski & Stay Packages, Craigslist and VBRO options.
Reno (RNO) is a great city to fly into with little or no problem with delays. Reno is a bit easier than the back up option of Sacramento (SAC). Southwest and Continental are the major airlines to fly into Reno and remember Southwest is a “skier friendly” airline where baggage flies free. Rental cars are reasonable in Reno also.
“Go North Tahoe” interchangeable ticket (hopefully will be offered 2012) and we will post other “discount ticket” hints (2 for 1‘s, ect..) as they become available.
