blueBIRD...again?

Hell yes again!

The first couple of runs on Saturday were some of the best runs of the trip so far, with way more new snow than reported.

Being a Saturday though, things got tracked out quickly. The lines were the longest we've seen yet on this trip.

So when the sky went bluebird on Sunday, BushwackerinPA and I hiked for some turns in the Snowbird backcountry. We ran into someone else hiking solo and invited him to come along.

The rewards of our efforts (my tracks).

Traversing back out at the bottom.

The way back to the resort!

So, did the 2 of you hide in the snowbank while Josh flagged a ride?

Great pics. Thanks for sharing. I was up there on Saturday and agree that it was fantastic but got tracked out quickly. Longest lines I have seen all year and the parking lots were all full! Ducking into lesser known spots provided the goods and there was untouched to be had. Great day.

Very cool video. Mounted the camera on the ski tip at one point?

Looks like Snowbird is the place to be.

Thanks Josh!  Very good stuff

That is absolutely sweet.  Clearly, you are in the land of Zion, and you must be one of the chosen people.  No one else could have that kind of luck.

And here's a video to accompany the initial post. I can't say it's the most interesting video I've ever made, but it makes me happy, and that was the intention. And it shows how deep the pow really was on Saturday. The first 2:10 is the first two runs of the day on Saturday, and the last 2:50 is the one run in the backcountry on Sunday.

Ha. At the time of that post, I was pretty much unable to hike, as it was just a day or two after my crash. My chest still hurts from it, but I went on the hike on Sunday to test it out, and luckily it didn't hurt too badly. And I never refused to traverse. You gotta traverse to get to a lot of the fun stuff.

the real reason for the he doesnt hike post was because Dibs decided to say you cant ski untracked all day long at the bird and Erik was complaining about chop, which yeah it was choppy on a couple days if you werent hiking.
