Wanted: Rossignol S86 178 cm

Hi,

I am looking for a pair of 178 Rossignol S86.  I know that they are discontinuing the ski and I can't find a pair - in stores or online.

So, if you have a pair in your store, or you have some advice about where else I might look, please let me know.

Thanks!

We have a pair of demos if you aren interested.

Thanks for the reply.

I was looking for new, but demos might do the job (and the bank account).

My only issue with demos is I don't really want demo bindings on them.  What kind of condition are they in?

I can appreciate you not wanting demo bindings, but these have them. As far as condition, while the tops might have a scuff or two, I will say the bases are better than new. These weren't demo's (rentals) per say but "sales tools", we used these to sell new skis so they were kept in the post pristine of condition and tuned EVERY time the were sent out, which was maybe 8-10 days.

Hey,

Thanks for the offer.  But I would prefer a pair of skis without demo bindings and honestly, although they are probably in excellent shape, a pair that have not already been tuned 10 times.

Alternatively, since I can't find these anywhere, I am looking for a mid 80mm ski with a short turning radius (slalom race ski for powder? Why does no one make these....).  Open to suggestions, but I don't want anything that skis like a super g ski on groomers. (this probably belongs in a different thread - )

Thanks again.

Dynastar Sultan 85 or Nordica HR Burner would be two very good options.

Prime use for the BBR?

Philpug -

That reminds me, earlier in the year I had been looking at the Nordica Hot Rod Fuel, but I could never find a pair.

Is there a big difference between the fuel and the burner?

I find the Nordica line very frustrating - too many skis that are nearly identical with nearly identical names.

Also, any idea about the difference between the Rossignol S86 and the new Experience 88 (which I assume are the replacement?).

Thanks again.

Holy Crap!  I can't believe someone is finally making this.

Do you think it actually works?  It has no tail which makes me think it probably won't generate very much energy out of a turn.  I once owned a pair of Elan's with a massive tail (can't remember what they were called) and they were awesome.  This is the opposite - I'm skeptical...

It skis quite well.

Yeah I had a lot of fun with them.  Could be a great one for a 1 ski quiver.

Bump....

I am now also looking for the Rossignol S86 178 cm.  I skied on the S3 out west and really liked it, but I think that the S86 might be better for the Midwest (WI) where it tends to be a little more icy.
