Scope out the theme and details. Check out how he integrated the core into the art (and even moreso on this past year's Obsetheds). It is pretty amazing work. I too like the current simplicity of DPS. But I also find brands that have some fun with their art like K2, Praxis, ON3P, Icelantic, etc. to be super enjoyable.
And BTW - those Hellbents look great on snow and in the air. The colors just pop.
