Dakine Fall Line Double Ski Bag

Not sure if this qualifies as "gear" (probably not), but wasn't sure where else to post.

I just received the Dakine Fall Line double ski bag I ordered recently. I have a Dakine boot bag and absolutely love it. Exceedingly well made, sturdy, lots of padding, plenty of room, etc etc.

The ski bag is pretty much identical. However, I'm a bit surprised by one thing --> it is a double ski bag but contains no padding to separate the skis from each other. I can envision bindings ripping into each other, gouging skis, etc etc when these are handled by baggage folks.

Is this typical for a double ski bag to lack a divider or other means of protecting skis from their counterpart in the bag? Is it typical to wrap bindings in a shirt or other fabric as an alternative?

My Swix double bag has a padded section that wraps around one set of skis in the center to keep the bindings from bashing each other.

It only goes around the bindings though, not the full length of the skis.

my K2 allski roller has a full length divider for two pairs of skis, but no seperate storage for boots, i used to have a dakine double and i put my two pair of skis in flat using brake retainers, then padding the bag out with ski kit to protect bindings.

I don't really care about the boot space, personally, as airlines allow for a separate boot bag and ski bag to count as one item.

I find the lack of a divider completely unacceptable and I'm not quite clear how everyone wouldn't.

It's not as if I'm one of those people that try to keep their skis looking brand new, but who wants two pairs of skis and bindings sloshing around and slamming into each other when transporting them?

I really like this bag otherwise, and really don't feel like returning it. Are my expectations just out of line?

Basically yes, all it takes is a few ski layers to protect your bindings perfectly well:)

So just wrap the bindings in a base layer or two and stop pissing and moaning, is that the jist of it? smile.gif

Another option is to wrap the skis with something like an exercise or yoga mat to keep them from getting banged up.  You are risking your ski clothes if they rub on a ski edge.
