From http://blog.skilodgingrental.com/2011/04/15/vail-resorts-lowers-season-pass-prices-until-may-8.aspx and

http://www.snow.com/epicpass/home.aspx

Seems like their new May 8th date conflicts with their March 29th announcement that said :

Get our guaranteed lowest price and Spring Benefits with only $49 down! Prices only guaranteed through 5/30.

Some of you who already bought should certainly get a refund!

Just called customer service, and those that bought early get the lower price (at least for those who only paid the $49 down).

looks like the detail link (press release) says those that already paid in full get a refund...for those looking to try Copper- this was in the Summit Daily today

Buy a $39 Swinger's Pass by showing your season pass from another mountain and get a day of skiing good for the remainder of the season. There's also the High Four lift ticket deal, with four tickets for $219. Restrictions apply.

Think maybe advanced pass sales were a little slow?

Yep, those who already bought get the lower price. See email text from vrz:

In celebration of the record-setting snowfall in Colorado and Lake Tahoe this season, we are reducing the prices on 2011-2012 season passes with a special, limited-time only offer.

Since you have already purchased your 2011-2012 season pass, you will automatically receive this new promotional price!

We have reduced the season pass price by $20 for adults and $10 for children, teens and seniors on the Epic Pass, Epic Local Pass, Epic 7 Day, Summit Value Pass, Tahoe Value Pass, Senior 10 Day (70+) and the Keystone/Breckenridge Senior (65+).

PRICE ADJUSTMENT / REFUND DETAILS:

• If you paid with $49 down, we will adjust the final payment balance due in the fall (mid-September) to reflect the lowered season pass price.
• If you paid in full with a credit card, we will refund your card the appropriate amount in approximately 4 weeks. (Your refund will come from Vail Pass Sales/Denver Sales)
• If you paid in full with a check or another form of payment, we will send you a refund check in the mail in approximately 4 weeks.

Thank you for your '11/'12 season pass purchase! See you on the slopes!

Gee, my friend I ski with on the last day went to the Vail ticket office and bought next year's Epic Pass and paid cash.

Maybe he can a free basket next season for 2 days in the skier's service building or something!

That's my impression. They lower their prices to appeal to the out-of-towner who are currently in the area skiing the latest storm.
