I bought a used pair of older 12m radius 170cm 123/66/102 version SCs as I wanted to try a slalom ski without spending a lot of money.
This ski has blown me away for Mid Atlantic skiing, I skied it every day this year except for my annual UT trip. The ski is much more versatile than it's sidecut led me to believe. I can't believe how much fun I have on this ski. I can let it run or crank out a million little turns. Once I got used to it, bumps
are ok too. It's top end is a little lower than a pair of 186cm Nordica Afterburners I have, but thats ok as the hills are small and crowded and at 51 I probably should tone down the speed a little. Still on the SCs, I rarely get passed so the high end is fine. The only thing I don't like is if the snow is softer the underfoot arc can slide out due the skinny waist. So I'm looking for a similar but wider ski used older ok. This particular pair of SCs has relatively low camber(possibly cause they were skied hard by the previous owner) and an even flex(not a stiff tailed ski.) I'm 5ft 9in 190lbs skiing since high school, spent a lot of my 20's as a skid in UT on leather boots and skinny telemark skis. So any recommendations for a wider version. This ski will never be used off the east coast.
My short list-
Nordica Fire Arrow 80
Atomic Metron model????
Any others I should think about? Thoughts on the above skis? Lower camber and a non rigid tail are important traits.
Thanks for any thoughts
