Tog has this concept on track but the possibilities of smoking the sardines then allowing them to dry into jerky makes for some great on hill treats.   I guess we'd have to have a smoking agent on our heads  but that would be also great for killing cooties and would emanate a fine scent of smoking sardines with a nice cedar  or another fragrant wood overtone.

You Finn's sure know how to live. You might have to watch out for speedy Norwegians who might pilfer your catch on the fly. There's some pretty fast ones around.

I love this concept, keeps the head warm and makes tasty treats the whole family can enjoy- and wait , since it's winter, no need to worry about those pesky bears....  icon14.gif

Well if one is worried about Bears coming out of the woods because you're smoking fish on your head...

You might want to stay away from Hunter Mt., NY.. (then again....there's other rea....hey at least it's not Jersey where helmets are required. Bears don't wear helmets. Their heads are hard though.)

Bear on trail at Hunter. Go to 0:50sec.

Or, looking for donuts in the trash at Hunter....wait, I thought the Troopers picked those up on night patrol. They throw them out??

At around 1:30, Bear opens cabinet and finds donut holes according to Hunter in boxes. Now that I know that, I guess they are assembling the holes back into the donuts during the day.

See, if the donut holes were wearing helmets this wouldn't be a problem.

that was really cool!  OK, so here's another reason Why I don't ski the frontside; bears apparently love gates.......

note to self: only smoke fish and meats, no frying of dough. I am assuming that since they like the donuts so much, this pertains to Zeppoli's, funnel cakes, Beignets, elephant ears or any other iteration of fried dough.  Plus skiing bumps and trees with a fry-daddy on your head could be inconvenient.

Maybe that's why Jersey instituted the helmet rule?

They're afraid people will get burned by the hot oil of a fryer on the head Then they'll sue. The feds and Osha will get involved. It's a mess.

At least with a non-vented helmet you're protected. Plus, it's easy to install a plug for the fryer. Pull up to the lodge and plug in. Just lke electric cars.

Wow, Jersey is way ahead of the curve. Must be Snooki. (who?)

Ahh, the snookie monster?  She'll eat anything...  I like the plug idea but we will need a coiling system; preferably something with an auto winding system and at least an 8' 12 gage power cord. I don't want to be blowing fuses in the backcountry. ...

'South Park' Rips 'Jersey Shore' and Destroys Snooki

Obviously a blender is the best helmet appliance.  Margaritas using foraged frozen water  are great on the runs and even Granitas might keep us motivated for those turns and bumps  just ahead.  Smoked herring and Ouzo slushies  . What would be better ?
