Volkl Kendo + Marker Griffon has L/R?

I picked up a pair of Kendos a couple of weeks ago and had Griffons mounted on them.

My first set of skis.

I've been renting / skiing demos for 3 seasons now and have never had skis / bindings that had a left and a right. I also skied the Kendos for 4 days in late Feb and they also had no L/R designation.

When I picked up my skis from REI yesterday after they mounted the bindings, I got them home and noticed the skis have a L or R sticker just behind each binding. What gives?

Am I posting a really stupid question? I thought the vast majority of skis didn't have L/R anymore. Is it the bindings?

That is old school or in case you want to keep track of your edges. Both boots and bindings are exactly the same, just ski them and enjoy.

Keep track of your edges, but it doesn't really matter for you.  Just ignore them and ski.

If you tune your own skis it's kind of handy.  I use the L/R regularly.  Then when I tune my skis I can get some idea of how I'm skiing and what I'm doing based on the condition of the edges.

Also since we tend to rough up our inside edges more, if you don't tune for a while, you can switch skis and then be using sharper edges on the inside.

Otherwise as others said, it makes no difference.

Thanks for the replies. This makes more sense, I didn't think the skis differed anymore.

Follow his hands.  The Shinai is on the right. The Kendo practitioner on the left. jk.gif
