If you have relatively short legs (29" inseam for jeans), snowboard pants tend to fit better than ski pants. Because they're made to fit baggy, you can size down one size and still have them fit around your waist/butt.
Arcteryx makes"short" ski pants that fit me, but they're 'spensive, and I haven't found any other brands that make ski pants that fit me well.
The only problem I've found with wearing snowboard pants to ski is that, as mentioned, your skis will tend to cut up the pants right around the location where the scuff guards should be. Even with the cuts, snowboard pants last me at least two seasons, so don't be afraid to try them.
I've had good luck with the 686 Smarty Original Cargo Pant, Burton "AK" Hoover gore tex pro pants (found 'em at Marshalls for $120), and a cheap (but good) pair of Sessions board pants that I bought on SAC for around $60.
