I have been mostly on race skis the last few years, but now want a pair of all-mountian skis. I am picking up a pair of Volkl Kendos, but have a question about choosing a binding for them
On race skis, you want the tallest stand height allowed, to allow higher edge angles. Not only does a lifter give you more clearance to avoid boot out, it lines you up better so that your forces are closer to the edge of the ski.
But looking at bindings made for all mountain skis, there seems to be a point to make them with as low a stand height as possible. What is the thinking about stand height for all mountain (50/50 on/off piste) skiing?
