I have a wide foot (EEE) with a high instep. I've been skiing in Salomon XWaves the last 4 or 5 years. I'm planning on getting new boots for the coming season. Here's my question. I'll likely be looking at boots that have a 100mm last which is really meant for somebody with a D width foot. And, like the XWaves, I can probably make them work because I've had things on my feet that are too narrow all my life.. What I wonder is, am I missing something besides comfort by skiing a boot that is narrower than ideal for my foot? Would I have better "feel" or balance if I had a last that was 104mm, or was ground out to 104mm? I'm thinking this time around, instead of taking a pair of boots meant for a D width and only making adjustments when/if a hot spots appears, if it would be better to grind them out from the start. What do you think?
