OK folks, the season is winding down.  Let's hear about the pre millennium gear you actually used this season

I only got out 6 times so I mostly stuck with early to mid 2000s era skis.  I did ski RD Coyote Helidogs in slush bumps one day though.  And, I used my 1981 Rossi/Kerma poles pretty much every day.icon14.gif... also rockin' a SubZero jacket from the early 90s here..

Who else rocked some Retro?

Salomon 555 Bindings sadly/pragmatically replaced

Lots of fun, but they told me, none so subtly, to pay attention! ;-)

I've used my K2 710's a couple of times this year. I will be relocating the heel pieces on my K2 shorts to fit my current boots for an outing in the next two weeks. The Dynastar MPI TRs are still a maybe for this year. What I really need is another couple sets of early Salomon brakes (444, 505, 555 etc.)

I skied some skis from this season, does that count?

Nope.....you should be ashamed  nonono2.gif

And with the ski (reg) plus puppets and brand new Olin Ballets at your disposal.....must be the thin air wink.gif

Maybe the shop could sponsor a proper RETRO DAY in April??? This might appease the snow gods

Various garments (gore-tex pants and jackets, fleece, a down jacket) manufactured by Moonstone Mountaineering, a company that is out of business.  They're so old they have "Made in the USA" on all of the tags.  Also, Salomon 900S and 900 Alium bindings from 1998 mounted on Dynastars from the 2005 - 06 season.

For my last day of the season I went all retro. Half day on the 710's and half on the K2 Shorts. I hand filed the Shorts to avoid the cost of a base grind. The true bar said they were flat but skiing on them felt like they were still a wee bit concave. I tried doing some ballet spins on them and got dumped by caught edges about six times. When I didn't fall I was fighting the edges trying to bring them around. Guess I'll have to break down and get a real base grind for next season after all.

The 710's went down a moderate bump run for the first time since 1984. Seems the bumps are a lot closer together than they were last time I used them for that. It wasn't pretty.

A few of the folks I rode the lifts with were amazed that anyone would even try to ski something as long as a 204.
