I have a meeting in Grand Junction and want to get a day of skiing while there.
All suggestions welcome.
Powderhorn is the closest option... just outside of GJ, not sure but maybe 1/2 hr drive? Never skied there but decent skiing for a small little mountain and they can occasionally get some decent storms. Next closest would probably be Sunlight outside of Glenwood, about 1.5 hr... fun little place, older lifts but surprisingly decent terrain... but if you're driving to Glenwood, might as well drive all the way to Aspen. Then Aspen or Vail are right after that at around 2hr drive? I'd pick the Aspen resorts over Vail/BC in a heartbeat. So it just depends how far you are willing to drive.
Telluride is actually probably about the same as Aspen and Vail... 2-2.5hrs... they haven't had as much snow this year as central mtns (but they are at a higher elevation than Vail and I think Aspen), so not sure how their conditions are holding up. One other thing to keep in mind is that some resorts start closing next weekend (April 3rd weekend), so where you go depends on when you're going to be in CO: http://www.coloradoski.com/page/resort-season-dates (I think Vail is 4/24... they aren't a Colorado Ski Country resort so not on that list).
