Hi all - Had a pair of Falcon 10's that were heavily worked on by Footloose in Mammoth, which has a strong rep. All the shell work was via stretching the forefoot/6th toe area. Worked well until the boots packed out.
Now have a pair of Dalbello K-Crosses that were heavily worked on by East Coast Alpine Sports in Boston, new outfit but they did a remarkable job. Same issues, solved all by grinding. Head fitter told me that he rarely stretches except as a last resort, prefers to grind. Why? Because he said, "When you stretch, the plastic has to come from somewhere and go somewhere. You're likely to deform the entire area, create new pressure spots somewhere else." Said he only stretches after a lot of grinding because the thinner shell will not deform as much.
Do you agree, or is this b.s.?
