windy conditions at Copper

Thread Starter

I will be skiing Copper on Thursday and Friday (never been there before).  The weather forecast is calling for 20-30 mph winds, with gusts as high as 50 tomorrow!  Is there any places to hang out on the mountain to minimize the wind?  I like to ski blues.

Copper is one of the better local areas in terms of avoiding the wind as it is mostly below treeline.  For easier blues that shouldn't be too exposed, try the Timberline lift (accessibly by taking the American Flier and heading skiers left).

If you want more steepness, start working your way skiers right as the front side tends to get steeper the farther east you head.

The windiest spots will probably be the top of the Super Bee, Excelerator and puma but you should be fine sticking to Timberline, Flier and Eagle.
