Ah, the good ol' days where after all that motion you never really turned.

That video has been posted here many times....it never gets old. I can watch it over and over. The guy who is in the video is a member here but unfortunately doesn't post that much.

I got a pair of old straight skis somewhere and someday I'll mount new bindings on them try some of that. Maybe the Ski patrol will pull my pass for inebriation.

I hardly remember it being so much hard work to get around on that gear in deep stuff.  I do recall that it was always much easier when going faster.

I don't remember it being that hard in 1974 but then again I was 18 and in the best shape in my life.

I have long had that video marked as a "favorite" on my YouTube account.  I love the red-and-starred pants on the one guy.  They just don't make it 'em like that anymore.

Entertaining, to say the least.  Wonder how much snow they got up their sleeves.. :)

I remember taking a trip to Aspen (from Minnesota) after Christmass in 1973. I was probably skiing Ajax at the time this was filmed. My recollection is that there was plenty of untracked powder because maybe 5% (or less) of those skiing actually left the groomed slopes. Not very many people could ski powder at all. Gentleman's Ridge, of all places, was like this for a day or two after a storm. Most of those who could ski were working, taking care of the touristas. Alta was different, of course, it mainly catered to skiers and not tourists.
