Where to SKI & STAY in Vermont March 17-19???

Putting together last minute Vermont ski trip for this Thurs-Saturday and could use all the help I can get since never skied in VT!  Only plan so far is picking up step-daughter in Middlebury and then we plan to hit 2 or 3 ski resorts Thurs through Saturday.  So if anyone has insights on best ski conditions, ski resorts her and I should try to get to before she graduates, deals on lodging or lifts, etc

From Middlebury I'd say Sugarbush and Mad River Glenn would be the obvious choice. From there I'd start moving north to Stowe, there's no reason to go anywhere else in VT unless Jay gets snow while you are here. Stowe, Sugarbush, MRG and Jay are the best areas in VT and are also the closest for you.

MRG I believe has a deal on Thurs St. Patricks day if you wear  something green to the ticket window.

Sugarbush is $17 St. Pat's day,  only applies to Mt. Ellen though.

To the OP there is a hostel located where the Powder Hound is that is supposedly $30 pp a night. Never stayed there so I couldn't tell you how it is. Powder Hound is just south of the Sugarbush access road on Rt. 100.

I'm doing a similar trip this week in VT. with a few friends. Waking up early tomorrow & driving to K-mart to ski (my skis are there so I have to stop to pick them up). Wed it's either K-mart again or Sugarbush. Thurs definitely Sugarbush for the deal & then we plan on heading north to Stowe for a day or 2. Stowe has a great deal this week for ski club members. It's $40- $42 (I forget) for a 1 day ticket & $60 something for 2 days, I think it's $90 something for 3 days etc. Then hopefully hit Jay for the weekend, we have some discount tickets for Jay. I have a mid-week pass for K-mart & can get $30 employee discount tickets for the Bush. So it should be an inexpensive week. Have a very good lodging deal but I can't offer it up since it's private.

Anyway hope you have a good trip.

The place at Sugarbush is Hostel Tevere and it's excellent. Giles and Sarah are the 30-something owners and they know what they're doing.

It is a hostel, and all the rooms are co-ed. I'm a 50 year-old mom with two sons, 14 and 10. We've stayed there a few times and loved it.

A very chill vibe.

Will likely be Party Central when the colleges are on spring break, but we were there during some peak winter weeks and it was a nice mix of every sort of skier. Dads and sons, moms and kids, friends traveling together.

It is indeed around $30 a bed, and is literally at the bottom of the access road. My car never had time to warm up from the hostel to the parking lot. The MRG shuttle stops right at the hostel, and the food is fantastic. Amazing breakfast.

Nice little bar for grown-up drinks.

Luxury it isn't, but the rooms are clean, warm and cozy with comfy beds and big comforters.

Spring skiing at Sugarbush is the best, and this weekend should be perfect. Some rain for Friday, nothing major, then bluebird

for Saturday and Sunday.

Goggle tan time.

Cheers,

Alli

The Bush is doing a Tour de Moon at Mt. Ellen Saturday night for the supermoon. Hike or skin up to the lodge for dinner, then head-lamp ski-down. It should be beautiful. Also, annual Big Air Dummy contest this weekend.
