Do you ever bike to the mountain?

Temps are getting warmer here in central NY, and I was thinking it'd be fun to ride to my local hill, ski a few hours, and ride home.  Ride is 35 miles one way.

But I don't really have a setup to carry everything. Anyone ever do it? Do you have a picture?

I could always cheat and have my wife bring my stuff up in the car if she and the kids were going to ski too.

Saw several bikes set up for winter riding at the base area at Steamboat a few weeks back, but none of them were rigged up to carry gear.

I have been wanting to ride my motorcycle to a ski area to go spring skiing. I always thought that would be cool. I missed some chances when I use to have a season locker at Seven Springs when I lived in Pgh.

Now I have skied one day and then motorcycled the next, but that isn't the same.

Lot's of people ride bikes to the Gondola in Aspen. Most racks consist of a PVC tube hose clamped to the rear triangle.

If your ever in town, look at the bike rack under the stairs going up to the gondi.  It's full of bikes all winter.

I see people at Squaw that really have impressive bicycle handling skills, carrying their skis over their shoulder, poles in the other hand with the handle bars, and boots on their feet, riding a beach cruiser type machine on mixed surfaces to the ski area from a short way away. How do they get on and off?

Might work for me - but I really wouldn't do this but once a year. 70 mile round trip with my stuff on the bike like that - not sure.

I motorcycle up regularly, when road conditions permit. I load my skis in my pack and wear it.
