i would recommend demoing both of them
the new jjs have a whole lot of rocker in the tip and the sidecut starts a good ways down compared to the s7

where do you live what do you like to ride?

Ok sorry new to this site. I wound like a softer. I ski on the west coast mountians whistler the best place on earth. I have not tried much but after reading a bunch these are the skis for me. But witch one. I am 5'8 and 148pounds.

You might want to also consider the ON3P Billy Goat.  It is very similar to the S7, but it is quite a bit lighter and a little softer.  They are on sale right now (go to he company web site), and if you go to the TGR forums they have lots of reviews and info.

not trashing the BG but unles this guy can really ski its going to be too stiff for him. I think he's looking for somthing easy to ski. I would throw a Bent Chetler in there. DPS 112RP as well although I have never skied that (just based on coments).  Obsethed is another good choice.

Flip coin. Buy ski. Ski ski. Be happy.

Oh ya and how about you take a gander at the other 1,278 threads on this. More S7 v JJ v BG v BC info than you could ever want.

One good thing, you are light enough to be good with the shorter sizes.

Just returned from Whistler, saw a bunch of Bents and S7's, not a single JJ. Have only skied the S7 of that group, but from reviews seems that the JJ may be too light and jibby for NW big lines. S7's are heavier and damper, still on the cusp in terms of stability, superb tree ski. Suggest a search here or over at TGR. At 148 lbs, you'll want something in the 175-180 range.

+1 S7

The S7s as well as the JJs are getting mixed reviews over at TGR, people seem to either love or hate them. Do a search there, lots of info available.

For a pow specific ski many folks (incl. myself) like the Bentchetlers. You hardly hear a bad thing about them, only the right length sometimes is a topic for discussion.

"Mixed reviews" connotes mediocre. Like a euphemism for a movie that may not be worth the price. For these skis, more like 80/20 for the JJ's, 90/10 for the 7's. The buzz has moved on, of course; all about DPS and the various PM's.

To clarify no connotation meant here and if you look at the more recent reviews or comments that impression will likely differ from 80-90% positive. But I'll leave it to the OP to do his own search over there and verdict whether these appear to be the right sticks for him or not.
