I like long turns, the way they feel. You can savor a long turn. You can ride it for a while and enjoy all the sensations. You can make a fast long turn. A long turn describes the shape of the mountain in perfect harmony.
Short turns are a tool I have to have in the box; so much terrain demands their employment.
But best of all, I like long turns. You??
And in fact when folks make short turns (cut and slash, hippity hop, bouncy little moves, way 20 years ago) on our vast faces, it chops up the snow; and that pisses me off. No right to feel that way. I just do. See, long turners preserve the great snow, keep the bumps broad and smooth, for everyone, then the short turners come along and enjoy the conditions all the while they are destroying them. That ought to make a lot of you angry, but there it is. And don't get me started on weekenders traversing every line on the mountain instead of skiing them; grrrrrrrrr.
