Start zone was in the rocky terrain lookers right.  Note the huge cornice above that slide zone.  Best part - some Darwin award winner was up there TODAY, while we were taking this photo.  They were above the debris, underneath plenty more snow just waiting to take a fast trip down the slope.  With the warm day today I have a hard time thinking anybody could be that ignorant.

I ski XC up there pretty regularly as part of my standard gym-avoidance routine.  There are almost always tracks in TC these days.  People have this cavalier attitude that this is safe terrain.  Whatever, dude, get yourself killed and there'll be more pow for the rest of us.

Better pix from the day:

Pretty stable overall, although with the heat later in the day I wouldn't have wanted to be on or under an east aspect.  Excellent skiing - excellent.

Cool pics!  I had to pass on the trip to TC in Jan. due to a family illness, but it's still near the top of my travel list.  Someday..

Way to get after it, Sue. Looks beautiful. Maybe next season I'll try backcountry (and an avi 1 course).

BTW, did you notice that TC made it into the seminal "Fifty Classic Ski Descents of North America"?

I guess you can expect moguls someday.

That's precisely what we need... more publicity.  frown.gif

Pretty soon it's going to look like Wasangeles around here.

Well, it might still be a while before there are regular buses up Lamoille Canyon and helicopters landing on top of touring parties in the Rubies.

Bunch of Californicators up there today.  They'd be less annoying if they were less... annoying.  They'll probably be posting a video any minute now on TGR.  Dude.  rolleyes.gif

Very unstable up there right now and a bunch of stuff is sliding big.  This is a chute with two pitches of stellar waterfall ice in the middle of it - we call it Ice Capades, couldn't tell you what the heliski guys call it.  It slid while we were up at the head of the canyon skiing.

Next season, we'll celebrate your return to knee health with some BC touring.  I have some Alpine Trekkers and skins that we can use to convert your inbounds stuff to ad-hoc touring gear.  Large fun and I can't wait to ski with you again.  Snowblower.  ;)

Look forward to it, Sue. I do have a touring rig sans skins. I do need to learn how to use my avi gear, though.
