Hi all. I just registered on these forums today, but I've been lurking for a little while. I've also done some searching, but haven't really found what I'm looking for. I'm heading to Copper Mountain this weekend, and am seriously thinking of catching a cat up to Tucker Mountain for the first time. I've looked at that mountain for years every time I've skied Copper, but just haven't really gathered the courage to give it a shot yet.
A bit about me: I've been skiing since I was probably 9 (I'm 42 now). I consider myself an expert. I'm a strong skier and hiker, though I'm not in the best shape and my knees won't let me ski bumps all day like when I was a kid. I've skied other double-black stuff at Copper without undue trouble: Upper Enchanted Forest, Union Peak, chutes west of Mountain Chief, Spaulding Bowl, etc. I love the stuff off the Eagle Wind lift at Winter Park, and have a blast at Copper's Union Meadows. I enjoy a good challenge.
So what do you all think? Any reason for me to be nervous about Tucker? And when I go, I don't want to waste the hike -- where are the best lines (I've read about West Taco, and am leaning toward that).
One more thing -- more than likely, I'll be skiing on my own. My kids are in ski school, and I'm used to skiing all over the mountain by myself. Would it be a mistake to do that on Tucker?
Thanks in advance for your opinions!
