I booked the trip months ago.  My first one out west after 15 years riding on the Iced Coast.  I did it cuz I got a great deal.  But did I screw myself out of some blower powder!?!  I am demoing from Deep Pwder House.  I wanna get deep!!!!!

The Alta website has detail snowfall statistics. You can go to the bottom and check out past years.  For instance April 3 & 4, 2009 they had a 39" dump in 48 hours.

Bottom line, if you don't have new powder, you will probably have sunshine and slush.

Past few years have been good in that time frame. But in a 6 day period, who knows? If no powder, likely corn snow, which isn't bad. I have trip booked in same time frame. It will be fun regardless of whethr storms hit. but crossing fingers they do.

First off, lay off the caps. Your post really isn't that important.

Second, no one knows if there will still be powder. April isn't necessarily your best bet for powder, but it's certainly not unheard of. My last powder day at the Bird was May 2 last year, and if I remember right there was big powder late March into April--7 feet in 7 days is ringing a bell. I also had a powder day the day before Easter, which was like April 3.

You could ask the same question at any period during the season -- you never know when it's going to be a snowy period or a clear high-pressure period.  April is no different, except you are statistically less likely to get powder.  I've had amazing powder skiing at Alta in April, and I've also had mild spring skiing.  You won't know until you get there -- nobody can tell you what the weather will be like this far out.

It will be cold and windly on the 3rd, then some snow in the evening of the 4th, folloed by a warm-up causing the new snow to turn to mush at about 3pm. On the 6th, it will get cold again at about 2pm, then snow, but with the ice underneath (like least coast skiing), it will all be blown off by the next morning. The 7th will see it warm up again, then get cold, but rain from about 1-3pm.

Anything else?

Wow, finally someone who can give a detailed forecast. I will be sure to send you an e-mail when I have trips planned. It would be great to know the weather that far in advance. Thanks  P.S. Are you able to provide forecasts fro 2012. I believe I have some trips planned then.

2012 isn't a problem, but usually can only do morning / afternoon forecasts instead of by the hour. 2013 is only daily details. Sorry.

Great, I will nail down some dates and get back to you.
