If you are considering a suit to improve your time, there are more effective ways to spend your money in this respect. It will probably help your times slightly, but the chances of you winning or losing a race by that small of a margin are probably slim. Last year at Nationals, in bronze, the difference between my time and the person ahead of me or behind me were like .5s, 1s, 2s. The presence or absence of a suit wouldn't have had that big of an effect, so it wouldn't have changed the order of how I and the others in my division placed.
That being said, last year I was in bronze and I would say about 75% in bronze did have suits (including me - my wife got it for me as a present even though I'm not really ready for it yet, to inspire me to continue to try to improve).
