I'm trying to obtain some info from any possible witnesses to my accident on Grand Review on Friday Feb 11. approx 1pm-1:30pm.
I was blind sided or hit from behind by a skier and suffered a serious concussion and a broken collarbone. I was wearing grey camo pants and a white jacket. The guy who hit me was described by others as male mid 20's with a brown jacket and either an Aussie or Kiwi accent.
My girlfriend found me face down in the snow and unconscious, the other party further downslope but conscious. I don't know what happened, I have no memory of the day's event. They tell me the other party was told to report this at the bottom of the chair nearby, but obviously, did not. I got a copy of the incident report from Vail ski patrol, who listed the accident as hit and run. I don't even recall the priveledge of riding the tobaggan back to the ambulance. :( But kudos to the vail ski patrol for lifting me off the ground due to possible head injury, that must've been a tough extraction from way back there.
Anyone who witnessed or was peripherally involved in this accident can you please email me at asp125 (at) yahoo (dot) com? I am not on here much.
I'm not looking for retribution or to stir up shit about who's right and wrong, we don't need to start that discussion about skiing in control and gapers etc. It's a longshot but I am just hoping to recover my insurance deductable and doctor's costs (thank god for health insurance, it was $6K just to visit the Vail Medical Center).
Good thing I had my helmet on, there was a nice scuff mark where something hard impacted.. ski? boot? ground? .. in any case I am still here and not sucking food from a straw.
Thanks in advance. (Mods can move this if posted in the wrong forum)
