Not Arrested for Skinning in Jackson Hole 2/13/2011

I had a wonderful ski tour today.  Instead of trying to make some grandiose statement about rights and the human condition, I drove a few miles from home, parked in the National Forest, and started skinning uphill.

I had no confrontations with anyone.  As a matter of fact, I didn't see another soul from the time I left the highway to the time I came back.

This was a recon mission, and I usually go alone on those because I'm never sure if the skiing is going to be any good.  That's why there are no skiing photos.  All in all, it was a great tour to some beautiful terrain and I'll definitely go back.

Total number of ski tracks (other than my own) visible anywhere in the photos above?

Zero.

I don't know if I'm on topic or off it, but those are great photos. Thanks for posting.

 Bob always posts great shots.

I'm a bit concerned about his going off into the untraveled deep by himself, despite his enormous reputation.  Hopefully you let someone know where/when you're out there Bob.  You know, just in case....

Thanks for the concern, Kneale.  This is definitely one of those cases where I don't recommend that other people do what I do, even though that's very hypocritical.  It *is* more dangerous to go alone, no doubt about it.  There are no excuses I can make that are particularly valid.

That said, I like going alone and I do take quite a few precautions.  My wife knew my route and expected time getting out.  I also take a more cautious route when I go alone than I might otherwise.  It's an interesting subject.
