Nordica Dobermann EDT - is it really colder due to the metal in the bootboard?

Maybe this has been discussed before, but I just can't find anything!

So, some say that the Nordica Dobermann EDTs [Pro and WC] of recent, with their metal insert in the bootboard is noticeably colder than equivalent boots. Is this true? How much should I worry - I have older 98mm Dobermann-s which are just fine, temperature-wise. The EDTs have supposedly some insulation on top of the metal ...

What about the new Tecnica Inferno 130/150 - it has some metal too, though in the insole, i.e. in the shell. Is it colder too?

Thanks!

it does have a tinny bit of insulation over the metal boot board, but that isn't really what makes it cold... it isn't helping at the same time...

like any relatively narrow expert level boot, warmth is going to come second... a thinner liner and some fairly big gaps in the plastic are the main causes...

if you tape up the opening at the toes it does help...

Thanks!

My question was more about the relative warmth/coldness: "old" pre-EDT vs. EDT Dobermanns - is there any perceptible difference?

ahhh... my bad... no big difference to me... maybe a touch colder but nothing to write home about...

some nordica users have replaced the EDT with the Jah love boot board and found it much warmer..

It's not due to the metal it's due to the fact that the overlap doesn't seal very well and the toe damn also can let quite

a bit of snow/air in as well.

I made myself a little gasket to go between the overlap and put a little silicone around the toe dam and they're perfect

now.  People automatically assume that it's the metal inside the boot but that's not the case.
