Conditions In Utah Right Now? (February 2011)

I leave for Utah tomorrow. First day on the slopes will be Sunday and I'm skiing Sunday-Friday. I am at Snowbasin on Sunday for the Dew Tour finals (couldn't turn down VIP Access to the finals). Monday-Friday are still up in the air but contingent on conditions at the resorts as well as having free passes at Snowbasin and PCMR.

What are the conditions like out there right now in LCC, PC, and Snowbasin?

Anybody? There has to be someone in Utah that can tell me who has the best conditions right now.

Hard to say. Conditions at Alta today were okay. Mostly cut up, cruddy snow over a hard (western icy) base. Some good runs in East Castle and elsewhere the snow was fine, but not up to our usual standard. Haven't been to Solitude in a week or anywhere else since the storm so this is just speculation, but have to imagine that based upon the last storm track that conditions in the Cottonwood Canyons are better than anywhere else in the Wasatch right now.

Haven't ridden any of those mountains lately, but I was at Powder today and it was great. Still a ton of soft snow and fresh tree and cat lines leftover from the 8" on Tuesday. Snowbasin hasn't gotten crap lately (4" Tuesday and 2"? last week, maybe), so don't expect pow there--groomer central. LCC got bombed with 16" on Tuesday, but you can bet that's long gone. Should be good and soft, though, but like I said, haven't been there to verify. PC--no idea.

Powder will no doubt have the best snow, so I'd recommend going there tomorrow--not sure why it's not on your list since you'll be in the area anyway. It's supposed to warm up starting tomorrow, so try to get there early before it all turns to mush.

Went to Solitude today.  It was still decent, found some untracked in the trees and the snow was soft everywhere.  Very few crusty spots.  Heading to Park City tomorrow so will see what that is like.  I've been happy with the conditions the last 3 days though, beautiful bluebird sky, cold temps, and soft snow.

Can't compare to other areas, but Snowbasin is skiing fine both on & off the groomers.  Clear, sunny & cool today.  Although not deep, there is still a bit of powdery snow around.  Yesterday was strangely good with an unreported inch of light, dry snow mixed in with the previous 4".  Don't think it will get warm enough in the mountains to turn any of the snow to mush.
