Is this typical when warrantying skis?

So the top sheet on my new Dynastar Course W Cup skis is de-laminating.  See http://www.epicski.com/forum/thread/101115/dynastar-wc-top-sheet-de-lamination-w-pictures

Anyways I called Dynastar today and talked to some guy who seemed uninterested, and a little out of it.  The guy said that they didn't have any skis in the wearhouse so he couldn't send me any new ones.  I explained I was done with these for the season and could arrange to use another set for races, so as long as I got a new set in the next 6 months I'd be fine.  I asked if he wanted to see pictures or anything of the top sheet, and he said no just send them to this address.  Is this typical when warrantying skis?  First time I've done it so I'm not totally sure.

Thanks!

Yes this seems typical,

The guy working in the warehouse has no say if it is a warranty job or not.  So until they see them, it is a "send em in and we will see deal".  Although usually this gets done through a shop....if your sponsored you go through your rep.  So sending them direct yourself seems weird.  But my advice is track down the local Dynastar Rep...that is usually easy to do, and just show him or her.  Often they dont have the final say (as usually they are just local sales reps reporting to a national or regional guy) but they will be in a good position to say it will be a "yes or no".

I havent sent a pair back in about 10 years, but I have done it about 4,5 times total, and this is typically how it worked.

ummm:

I'm not sure if what you showed is or isn't a problem with the skis (some of my skis look a little like that, but I ski pretty hard, my vision isn't that acute, so I guess I don't care).

Does anyone have an opinion?

I got the skis directly through the Dynastar rep at a pro sale for those of us who aren't sponsored at the beginning of the season.  I was stupid and didn't get his business card but I'll try to track him down at this weekend before I send them in.
