Steamboat Powdercats, CO - 2/23/2011

My wife and I will be spending a day with Steamboat Powdercats on Wednesday February 23rd, 2011. We're doing their Intermediate level group, and it will be our first time skiing non-lift served terrain. I'll follow-up with a post afterwards, but I'm posting this now on the very slim chance someone else has booked for the same day and wants to share in some pre-trip stoke. If anyone else has spent a day with this company and wants to share some experiences, that would be welcome too.

We'll be skiing at Steamboat the resort the two days prior to the cat skiing trip. Possibly we'll ski the Thursday after (2/24) but we'll see how our legs are holding up.

Please, oh please let the weather be good.

this should be posted in the get together thread.......

Do a search, there a lot of posts on SPC.  you will have a great time as long as you can ski pow.  Weather? if there's powder, who cares?

This thread was a real bummer. Was hoping to see some sweet shots from SPC. I lived in Steamboat for a couple years, but never got out on the cats.

Anyway, have fun and post when you get back!

Hey Joe, here is the "Trip report" from February 7th, some sick deep pow.....

Finn, that is absolutely amazing! Why on earth was I working that day?

I was working too..... I just figured this thread needed some stoke!

My family will be in Steamboat the 18th till the 21st.  We will probably only ski the morning of the 21st as we need to head back to Summit County but if it's a powder day all bets are off.  If you would like to hook up for few runs we'd be happy to accommodate you!  Shoot me PM and we can trade digits if you want to hook up.

Sweet! Thanks for the link. Gotta get out on some powdercats sometime soon. I ended up hiking around the day-cat terrain at Powder Mountain a few weeks ago, and the snow is absolutely sick out there--thigh deep while the resort itself was more like ankle high. Now just to come up with an extra 400 bucks...

Sorry to disappoint. I'll post pics and TR as soon as the day is over, assuming I haven't passed out from either exhaustion, joy, or both.

I'll be out in Steamboat from 2/22-2/25 with the family. I was looking at doing SPC on the same day my son was doing the Billy Kidd race camp but the only day they do the one-day race camp is Monday and we'll be at Copper that day. My oldest son would be bummed if I ditched him on my wife and my youngest son, so I probably won't do the cats.....unless I change my mind.  If you'd like to make a few turns with a native WNY'er shoot me a PM and maybe we can get together and lament the poor showing by the Bills this year. :-(  Either way you should have a blast. Does anyone know if the TR above was from the intermediate level? It looked fairly benign.

Awesome! My wife and I would love to take a few runs with you and your family. We could spend all day lamenting about the Bills couldn't we? As for SPC, as of right now there's still two seats open on our day (2/23) for the Intermediate cat, it sure would be fun to have another WNYer along with us! *hint* *hint* *nudge* *nudge* :-)

Sounds like 2/22 will be our best day to meet up at the resort. I'll drop you a PM with my contact info.
