Hey everybody, Its been a while since I have been skiing, but it doesn't stop me from thinking about it constantly.  I actually do some work with Lexus Magazine and it gives me the opportunity to drool over sweet pictures and plan my next get away.

Has anyone been to Sun Valley? The magazine did a recent post on heli-skiing, calling them one of the top places in the country.  While I am not quite as adventurous to try and jump out of a helicopter onto the slopes, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at snowboarding first.

From what I've been reading on the threads I'm pretty sure the people here are crazy enough to actually ski out... am i right?

I've been to Sun Valley a number of times, and it's one of my favorite places to ski.  I love the mountain.  I love the town.  I love the history.

I can't comment on the heli-skiing, as I've never considered doing it while there.  If you're going to heli-ski, in my opinion, you might as well "do it right" and go to one of the many operations in British Columbia.  If you want to ski at a resort, proper, you can't go wrong with Sun Valley, though.

I have been to Sun Valley and it is a great ski resort with a nice town.  I also found the locals to be very friendly and helpful during my trip.  I did not heli-ski while I was there, so I am not able to comment on it.

I don't know if I should feel ashamed to admit this, but I have never been skiing out West. I have actually only traveled West twice before, both in the summer, but from what I can tell Sun Valley seems like a really great place to start.  As great as heli-skiing sounds I think I am going to save that for a later time after I get my snow legs back.
