As background, I have very little experience skiing. I grew up in the midwest & when I was in high school, there was an annual school ski trip to Galena, IL. About 10 years ago, I went skiing in Taos while at a conference in Santa Fe. Last week, I went to Aspen with friends to visit family there.
It was amazing, just the scenery along the drive from Denver to Aspen was breathtaking & I got to see places which were previously only names on baseball caps in the midwest (like Vail & Breckenridge). My friend's family includes 3 people who live in Aspen & are all experienced skiers with race & instructor backgrounds. They did a great job of taking it easy & showing me around. We spent a day skiing at Snowmass & another at Buttermilk (where the X-Games were being held). With their help and coaching, I was able to make it down the blue runs.
I had such a great time that I found Epicski while looking for information on getting boots to fit my wide feet. Thanks to this forum, I found a bootfitter close to home & can't wait to get boots which actually fit me.
