Snowbasin conditions

We're considering Snowbasin on Monday.  How's the snow away from the groomers?  Especally interested in John Paul.  Is it soft or rock hard from thaw/freeze cycle?  I assume they didn't get much from storm last wekend.  Thanks!

Shady slopes still have some good snow with some firmer spots where the snow has gotten scraped.  Sunny slopes are a bit scratchy.  The few inches of snow from Monday was blown around quite a bit.  Groomers fave been great in the AM.  It won't take much snow to refresh everything though, as the surface is pretty smooth everywhere.  There may be enough new snow for that by Monday.

Thanks for the info.  Snowbasin seems more protected than Powder Mountain so if its snowing may hit it Monday, and Powder Mtn Tuesday.

I skied with Jim on Friday. It was fine: pretty firm, but had some bite to it. A fair amount of snow is supposed to hit over the next few days. Snow basin is the real deal; don't make the mistake of overlooking it. And ski with Jim Forster if you can

I rode Powder last Thurs. The only way I could describe it is...weird. The weirdest snow I've ever seen. Still plenty of nice pow in the trees, but you just couldn't tell when you were going to go from a foot of powder to slick-as-snot dust on crust. And then there was some weird "snow dunes" that got blown with the ridiculous winds last week. They rode about like I'd expect sand to ride--kind of slow and awkward.

From the sounds of it, Snowbasin will be better unless we get some snow this week.
